Pokemon Go Mega Rayquaza Debuting At Pokemon Go Fest 2023

This is not a drill. We repeat THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Mega Rayquaza is officially coming to Pokemon Go, and we are ecstatic to finally catch it.

As Niantic announced, Mega Rayquaza will be heading to Pokemon Go through the Pokemon Go Fest 2023. Afterwards, Mega Rayquaza will be available to every Trainer, even the ones that did not participate in Pokemon Go Fest 2023.

However, Mega Evolution with this Pokemon is not going to be easy. Unlike any other Pokemon with an available Mega Evolution, to evolve Mega Rayquaza, Trainers need to first teach it the Charged Attack Dragon Ascent. To teach it this move, Trainers will need a brand new item called Meteorites.

What are Meteorites? Well, from what we know, Meteorites are items that will help Rayquaza unlock its ultimate power, and in Pokemon Go, you can collect these by completing certain research tasks during Pokemon Go Fest 2023. You can also collect Meteorites through an event-exclusive Special Research story, but beware, at the moment this is only for participants in Pokemon Go Fest 2023.

The bonus that will be active during the events is:

  • While attacking with Mega Rayquaza in a Raid Battle or a Gym battle, the attacks of other Trainers’ Pokemon challenging that same raid or Gym will deal more damage. Their Pokemon’s attacks will deal even more damage if the attack is Flying-, Psychic-, or Dragon-type.

If you are wondering when will the whole world see Mega Rayquaza, that ceremony will happen during the Pokemon Go Fest 2023: Global event, where every Trainer that logs in on August 27th, 2023, will receive a short Special Research story with a Meteorite as a reward.
