Pokémon GO rolls out Shiny Detective Pikachu, Detective Hat Raichu, and Shiny Hat Slowpoke for the Detective Pikachu Returns event

Hey Trainers, grab your magnifying glasses and get your detective hats on, Niantic and Pokémon GO have finally unveiled the much-anticipated Detective Pikachu event. And if that doesn’t get your heart racing, get this: both Detective Hat Pikachu and its ultra-rare Shiny variant are making appearances in the wild. Yeah, you heard right, these gumshoe rodents are out and about, waiting to be caught.
To celebrate the launch of “Detective Pikachu Returns” on the Nintendo Switch, Pokémon GO is pulling all the stops. They’re rolling out themed Timed Research tasks that will put your sleuthing skills to the test. Solve mysteries, complete challenges, and, drumroll, please, earn the chance to encounter the sought-after Detective Hat Pikachu.
But wait, there’s more. If you’re into photography, you’re in luck. Snap a few in-game pics and you might just find a Detective Hat Pikachu photobombing your masterpiece, once per day. Plus, get this, the game’s throwing in 2× XP for spinning PokéStops during the event. Talk about a double whammy.

The saga doesn’t end there. Professor Willow, the game’s trusty guide, needs your help to track down a “Pokémon of interest.” Complete his Field Research tasks and you could end up having another close encounter with a Detective Hat Pikachu. And if you’re wondering what happens when you evolve this Pikachu? Boom! You get a Detective Hat Raichu.
Now, heads up: like all good things, this Timed Research is going to expire. Make sure you complete all tasks and claim those tantalizing rewards by Monday, October 9, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time. The clock’s ticking, Trainers!
