Pokémon skateboard collectible craze and skyrocketing values

Where there are collectibles, there are roaring prices, even if the item is not that high in value.
The collaboration between Pokémon and Santa Cruz Skateboards led to the sale of sealed Pokémon skateboards, with customers not knowing which design they would receive, akin to opening trading card game packs. Some lucky buyers had a small chance of obtaining a rare gold skateboard featuring Pokémon like Eevee, Gyarados, Pikachu, Charizard, and Mimikyu. Priced at $110 each (quite reasonable for skateboards), they sold out almost instantly despite a purchase limit of five per person.
The value of these skateboards varies greatly depending on the Pokémon design inside. Desirable designs like Gengar, Charizard, and Pikachu are highly sought after, while less popular ones like Magikarp are less valuable. Many people have turned to online platforms to buy and sell these sealed boards, with prices ranging from $300 to $500 initially. Now, the attention it has gotten has driven prices to around $1,200 for a sealed board.
For the ultra-rare gold foil Charizard deck, prices have reached as high as $20,000, and others have sold for $15,000. The skateboards feature bold monster designs against detailed backgrounds, making them even more attractive to collectors. As the hype continues, prices are expected to rise further.
