Shadow Lugia raid counters and tactics in Pokemon GO

The dark times have officially arrived, luckily (or not) it will be hectic and chaotic for two days only.

As you know, Shadow Lugia is about to make its presence known in Pokemon GO, and we are more than happy to go up against this one-of-a-kind beast. Plus, you might get a Shiny Shadow Lugia, something we are all after, and want to own so badly.

The legendary content creator we all know and love, PokeAK, has published a video quite helpful for all of us, and we hope that you will take your time to read this and watch his video on how to prepare the best for this Shiny Shadow beast. He goes into detail about what counters are the best and gives us a list of tactics that can come in handy when battling Shiny Shadow Lugia.

To serve as a reminder, Shadow Lugia will be in Pokemon GO from October 28, 2023, until October 29, 2023.

We all know the key to success – choosing the right Pokemon with the right movesets. PokeAK, among many others, suggests these Pokemon (without any weather boost):

  • Mega Tyranitar with Bite and Brutal Swing.
  • Shadow Tyranitar with Bite and Brutal Swing.
  • Mega Gengar with Lick and Shadow Ball.
  • Mega Diancie with Rock Throw and Rock Slide.
  • Mega Banette with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball.
  • Zeraora with Thundershock and Discharge.
  • Mega Manectric with Thunder Fang and Wild Charge.
  • Mega Rayquaza with Dragon Tail and Dragon Ascent.
  • Shadow Zapdos with Thundershock and Thunderbolt.

  • Shadow Tyranitar with Smack Down and Brutal Swing.
  • Mega Gyarados with Bite and Crunch.
  • Mega Ampharos with Thunder Fang and Brutal Swing.
  • Mega Rayquaza with Dragon Tail and Dragon Ascent.

If you want to choose a Pokemon with partly cloudy weather, PokeAK’s suggestions are some of the following Rock-type Pokemon:

  • Mega Tyranitar with Smack Down and Brutal Swing.
  • Shadow Tyranitar with Smack Down and Brutal Swing.
  • Mega Aerodactyl with Rock Throw and Rock Slide.
  • Mega Gengar with Lick and Shadow Ball.
  • Mega Banette with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball.
  • Agron with Smack Down and Meteor Beam
  • Shadow Electivire with Thundershock and Wild Charge.
  • Regular Tyranitar with Smack Down and Brutal Swing.
  • Shadow Rayquaza.
  • Shadow Tyranitar.
  • Mega Gyarados.
  • Houndour.
  • Alola Marowak.
  • Hydreigon.
  • Shadow Lugia.

If you are located somewhere with a rainy weather, then the content creator suggests these Electric-type Pokemon:

  • Zeraora with Spark and Discharge.
  • Shadow Raichu.
  • Mega Manectric.
  • Shadow Electivire.
  • Mega Tyranitar.
  • Shadow Luxray.
  • Shadow Tyranitar.
  • Mega Gengar.
  • Thundurus.
  • Shadow Gyarados.
  • Shadow Luxray.
  • Shadow Magnezone.
  • Mega Diancie.
  • Electivire.
  • Shadow Weavile.
  • Raichu.
  • Rayquaza.
  • Mega Ampharos.
  • Rampardos.
  • Shadow Zapdos.

The key to defeating Shadow Lugia is to choose a team of Dark-type, Ghost-type, Rock-type and Electric-type Pokemon. As always, if you happen to encounter a Shiny Shadow Lugia, then, luck is really on your side.
