How Do You Catch and Evolve Dusk Form Rockruff into Dusk Lycanroc in Pokemon Go?

Trainers, the Lustrous Odyssey event in Pokémon GO brings an exciting addition, Dusk Form Lycanroc, a new form making its first appearance in the game. To acquire this unique Pokémon, you need to start with a Dusk Form Rockruff. If you’re wondering how to get your hands on one, here’s the information you need.

Starting from January 6 at 10 am, Dusk Form Rockruff becomes available through various methods. You can find it in 2km Eggs, and in 7km Eggs, where tier 1 will give you a regular Rockruff, and tier 5 will offer the Dusk Form Rockruff. It’s also available as a field research reward for completing the “Hatch 3 Eggs” task. Notably, this special Rockruff only has the option to evolve into Dusk Lycanroc, but there’s a catch, it can only evolve at dusk based on your location. Oh, and I almost forgot. You can also get it from Adventure Sync 10km Egg hatches.

However, keep in mind that when you evolve Rockruff, it might turn into either Dusk Lycanroc or the Midday/Midnight Form Lycanroc. Unfortunately, there’s no guaranteed way to predict which form you’ll get upon evolution or hatching. Additionally, seeing a Rockruff silhouette in Raids using the Nearby Feature doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the Dusk Form. But the good news is, Raid Rockruffs can be the dusk form-evolvable variant.

Niantic is staying true to the main series by offering two different Rockruffs, one evolving into either Midday or Midnight Form Lycanroc, and the other exclusively into Dusk Lycanroc. As expected, the one that evolves into Dusk Lycanroc will be rarer and more challenging to obtain than the regular variant.

That’s an interesting point to note for players who utilize both Pokémon GO and Pokémon HOME. When a Rockruff with the Dusk Form is transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, it retains the Own Tempo Ability. This ability is significant for evolving Rockruff into Dusk Form Lycanroc in the main series games.

The Lustrous Odyssey event runs from January 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to January 10, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. So, make sure to participate in the event and try your luck at catching this rare and unique Pokémon.
