Forza Horizon 5 May 21st Update Brings new improvements and more, Patch Notes revealed

Today, Forza Horizon 5 received a new update, introducing plenty of features and improvements, including an EventLab, radio station, new cars to unlock, and a limited-time event. Playground Games has revealed that the update introduces 20 new EventLab props, which allow players to make courses. Twelve of them feature new lightning variants, animated, pulsing, and static.

Enjoy a new auditory experience with a new radio featuring 21 new songs. The developer has also decided to allow players to unlock five new cars as festival playlist rewards. The full lineup and more details about today’s update are below.

We’re constantly working to improve the experience in Forza Horizon 5. Below you will find a summary of items fixed or improved upon in this update.

New Features (Available from May 21)

  • 20 EventLab Props
    • 12 Props featuring three variants with different lighting patterns (Animated, Pulsing, Static), snapping functionality and lights synched with the current songs BPM:
      • 4 Walls & Fences: Neon Road Barrier Left, Neon Road Barrier Beam, Neon Road Barrier Right, Neon Railing
      • Lighting: Neon Overhead Light Pink, Neon Overhead Light Blue, Neon Double Street Light, Neon Street Light
      • Decorations: Blue Left, Neon Art Blue Mid 1, Neon Art Blue Mid 2, Neon Art Blue Right
    • Decorations featuring three variants with different lighting patterns (Animated, Pulsing, Static), and lights synched with the current songs BPM:

“Horizon Retrowave” Limited Timed Series Features (Available from May 23 to June 20)

  • Evolving World: Neon Highway featuring lighting synched with any radio station BPM
    • This feature can be disabled anytime by accessing a new option available through Settings > Accessibility > BPM Matched Environment
  • Evolving World: Retrowave Drone Show
  • Evolving World: Sunset Collectible
  • Evolving World: Returning extended night cycle (similar to Series 19 Midnight At Horizon)
  • 1 Retrowave Outfit
  • Players Badges
  • Retrowave Car Horns
  • 1 Series Car Collector Accolade
  • 2 Minecraft Heads
    • Will be delivered to all players through in-game message on May 23rd

Bug fixes and changes


  • Fixed an issue where AI Traffic cars were not present in Street Races (Bug 3931337)
  • Improvements made to occurrences where some players were getting “Forza Horizon Server Not Available” error message while trying to connect to the Auction House, Message Centre, Leaderboards or browse Liveries, Tunes and Vinyls (Bug 3936958)
    • Developer’s Notes: Whilst these issues have been fixed for the majority of users, we’re aware a very small group of players are still experiencing this, despite rebooting the game completely. We’re continuing our investigations about this and will share update as soon as we can, thank you for your patience.
  • Fixed an issue where players were not able to follow/unfollow creators via the Creative Hub (Bug 3930200)
  • Fixed an issue where, when accessing the game via quick-resume, the world map would not update events after re-connecting to game servers (Bug 3937688)
  • Fixed an issue where players couldn’t delete the in-game message from the Asphalt and Off-Road Racers Outfit gift in Horizon Race Off Series (Bug 3938250)
  • General performance and stability fixes


  • Fixed an issue where unlocking car mastery tree all at once could cause high volume audio (Bug 3938524)


  • Fixed an issue with the 2020 Audi TT RS where front fenders were disappearing when equipping the customized hood (Bug 3935302)
  • Fixed an issue with the 2020 Audi TT RS where the digital gauge in the cockpit view had some texture inconsistencies (Bug 3935309)
  • [PC] Fixed an issue with the 2010 Volkswagen Golf R where some Ray Tracing reflections artifacts were visible while in Extreme or Ultra settings (Bug 3926672)
