En Masse Entertainment is Shutting Down…

After an entire decade of publishing games, En Masse Entertainment is going to shut down. Established back in 2008, En Masse is owned by the South Korean game holding company Krafton Game Union, whose other studios include the makers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

En Masse brought the popular MMORPG TERA to Europe and North America in 2012, and the game went free-to-play in 2013. It has also been ported to the PS4 and the XBOX One. In 2017, TERA had 25 million players worldwide, but after that, the numbers kept dropping, and today, it barely peaks at 1000 players online on Steam.

The Seattle-based studio announced its goodbye via the TERA official Facebook page. The company’s statement suggests its games may continue to operate, although more detail will be offered in the coming weeks.

En Masse has also been responsible for publishing other games like Stranger Things 3 and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Today, it is with a heavy heart that we begin the process of discontinuing the business of En Masse Entertainment. Our focus in the coming weeks and months will be on our team, helping them to find new opportunities, and on our games, to ensure a seamless transition for [players]
