Sony Announced PlayStation Cross Play with Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, Fortnite Beta Cross Play Starts Today

Finally, Sony Interactive Entertainment is ready to release their cross-platform options with Fortnite, starting today.

This information is directly from their blog, written from Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera. He announced that the company has finally identified a path toward supporting cross-platform features for select third-party content.

The first game of choice will be Fortnite and it will be the focus of an open beta which will start today. As we understood from the post, the test will monitor the technical and social experience. Together with that, they will ensure us that the cross-platform play is best on PlayStation.

The beta will allow Fortnite to be the first game to allow cross-platform play for PS4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac.

For 24 years, we have strived to deliver the best gaming experience to our fans by providing a uniquely PlayStation perspective,” writes Kodera. “Today, the communities around some games have evolved to the point where cross-platform experiences add significant value to players.”
