Gears of War 4 September Update Improves Matchmaking and Adds New Maps

I loved the story mode playing Gears of War 4, every single bit of it. Then, when it came down for a multiplayer experience, I was kind of disappointed. However, the developers have found a way to improve and build upon the known mistakes. Nowadays, Gears of War 4 is a bit different when it comes to Multiplayer, and the best part is that The Coalition is still doing some changes around it. In the September Update, we’ll receive some new additions and modifications around Multiplayer, improving the Matchmaking and receiving new maps. Interestingly, I find this quite accommodating.

The new maps, Mercy and Harbor Haze maps are quite fun. Mercy, recalls the path of Gears of War 3 battleground which is set in the home of Dominic Santiago’s wife. It is good to remember and drive upon the past. On the other side, Harbor Haze offers quite a pleasant and challenging fights which are happening during the daytime. It includes a brand new mist mechanic, and it suits the battlefield quite nice.

Now, let’s take a look under the hood and analyze the matchmaking changes. A similar thing Ubisoft did with their Rainbow Six Siege servers in their Blood Orchid Operation. Players will get their chance to match opponents closest to their latency, which correlates to Quality of Service matchmaking system. This change will result in a more exciting game, rather than “deal the lagger please”. Alongside the new Matchmaking System, The Coalition has also improved the skill based matchmaking. It should increase the match finding times but should contribute to a better overall experience. So, it’s time to say goodbye to the Region Locked matchmaking.

Having such an update in our hands, the September Update should make the game a lot more competitive than it has been in the past. September is the month to celebrate by playing Gears of War 4, or if you’ve already forgotten about this game, it’s time to come back at it and give it a try.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
