League of Legends will remove Clubs throughout this year

Riot Games plans to shut down the “Clubs” from League of Legends. In a recent blog post, Riot Games has discovered why exactly Clubs is being removed from League of Legends.

Its removal was also announced on their official Twitter profile. According to the company’s official statement, it’s all about the evolution of other community services, potentiating Discord, and its successful tools to sustain a community.

Tools to develop, cultivate, and manage communities have come a long way over the years. From TeamSpeak to Ventrilo to Mumble to Discord, developers have spent decades helping players connect with each other in new, innovative ways. What began as support for text/voice chat has evolved into a suite of feature-rich, gaming-focused tools that help players communicate across games, livestream gameplay to each other, and coordinate their next sessions.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Clubs won’t be available in the future. Riot Games has discovered that Clubs might be reworked from the ground up, and may become available at a certain point. Nevertheless, Clubs are facing removal and will be absent available by the end of the year.
