Necrophos Feels Stronger After the 7.00 Dota 2 Update

After the new update came to live a lot of changes have been brought within. One of them is the so called Necrophos Ghost Shroud ability. Yes, Necrophos Feels Stronger and harder to kill since the new changes applied. Necrophos feels Stronger, after the new update, sadly or not.

While speaking of that thing. We’d just love to ask Valve, did they know this is going to happen and how many updates are going to be done until they finally release 7.00. We are definitely aware the changes should make the game a lot more fun to play. However, as we’ve said before, lots of players do not support this and do not love it.

Speaking about Necrophos, let’s get back to him and explain what has been changed. Necrophos has been moved temporarily from Captains Mode because of the applied changes, probably. Let’s Review all the changes and Talent Tree he owns now.

Necrophos Feels Stronger and Here’s Why

Do not mind, we’ll start from the spells he owns and explain it one by one while also note the most valuable changes Necrophos received. After couple of games I played with and against him, I already know that he feels a lot stronger, just as other heroes in the game. Seems like Valve made us believe we needed these changes, but however it happened to be the opposite. There are lot of changes players should be aware of and this is one of them. You’ll think twice about ganking Necro with Heroes that mostly deal physical DPS.

Death Pulse

Death Pulse now passively provides 1/3/5/7 HP/MP regen for 7 seconds after you kill a unit, for every single one. This is multiplied by 10x if you kill heroes.

Even if the spell looks weaker, this should not be the case to stop playing necro. I mean, you can easily get Veil of Discord so you can buff your damage by a lot. This is kind of a must actually.

The Damage is reduced from 125/175/225/275 to 80/120/160/200/.

The Death Pulse healing has also been reduced from 70/90/110/130 to 60/80/100/120.

Ghost Shroud

Now, this is what we’re talking about as you probably has already assumed of it. There is a new spell instead of Sadist, Ghost Shroud. Necrophos now can avoid buying Ghost Scepter because this spell can make him go Ethereal which should make all the players twink twice before ganking him. This is one of the reasons why he is stronger.

So, what it does is that it turns you Ethereal for 3/3.5/4/4.5 seconds and also gives you an extra 600 AoE slow aura which slows the movement speed of enemies by 12/20/28/36%. The only thing that’s actually bad with this spell is that he’s taking 20% more magic damage while Ghost Shroud is active. However, while Ghost Shroud is active, you also heal yourself by 50% more. This amplification is just what every Necro player needs, right? The cooldown of the spell is not that high so you should be at least surviving twice with Necro.

However, there are new Talent Trees in the game that came with the last 7.00 patch. There is one Necro’s talent that offers +10% Magic Resistance that comes at level 20 (see the picture below). That will make you take only 10% more magic damage. You can breath easier by using this talent.

We are clear, right? It looks pretty simple indeed! 🙂

HeartStopper Aura

I honestly just wanted to list all the Necrophos current in-game spells just to make things more clear. HeartStopper Aura spell is pretty much the same, so we are not planning wasting time over here.

What it does it’s basically draining his opponent’s HP with a percentage of their max health. This happens over time and it’s passive ability.

Let’s move forward with the other ones.

Reaper’s Scythe

The biggest possible changes are right over here. When Necrophos had Aghanim’s Scepter before the 7.00 patch he was disabling buyback after he kill someone. Now, disabling a buyback is not possible anymore. Also, the extra damage of Reaper’s Scythe is not there anymore.

The most exciting part comes together with the Aghanim’s Scepter upgrade. His ultimate reduces the cooldown to 55/40/25 seconds. This makes him a lot more deadly across the map. He could be ganking you very easy and you’ll be really bad because of that.

Necrophos Talent Tree

Below you can see Necro’s talent tree and confirm that he can become a lot stronger in late game.

This is what you should pick while playing him, at least that’s what I go for:

  • Level 10: +6 Strenght if you play seriously, if not, take +40 damage.
  • Level 15: +6 to All Stats by any means.
  • Level 20: +10% Magic Resistance because we do not need the amplification, we can already heal a lot.
  • Level 25: This kinda depends on the game style itself. What the game offers. If you are feeling comfortable you can get the -1s Death Pulse cooldown + Octarine Core can give you really low cooldown on Death Pulse. Otherwise, I would go for +400 Health in order to survive teamfights, individually.

That is all we have for Necro at this moment. If there is something new we’ll try to update this article as fast as we can. Tell us what do you think about Necro, is it more OP or not? Well, first you should try it!

  1. They destroyed his Aghs, he needs Veil to get almost his past Q and you say that feels stronger? Dude, Valve nerfed everything on him. Deal with it.
