Nvidia 397.55 hotfix released, fixes removal of driver after PC is left idle

Nvidia has released a hotfix for their latest driver 397.31. Namely, this driver did not perform very good, since after leaving the PC in idle status for an extended period, the driver would be removed. That would’ve pushed the user to restart his PC to retain driver functionalities. This hotfix should be applied manually, so anyone having this issue should deal with it as soon as possible.

Among other things the hotfix also deals with some other issues regarding GTX 1060 GPUs. It fixes the device manager error code 43 on some 1060 models. Below you can find all of the hotfix notes and the download link:

his is GeForce Hot Fix driver version 397.55 that addresses the following:

  • After driver installation, Device Manager may report Code 43 error on a few GTX 1060 cards models.
  • Netflix playback may occasionally stutter.
  • Added support for Microsoft Surface Book notebooks.
  • Windows 10: Driver may get removed after PC has been left idle for an extended period.

Keep in mind that every user should manually download this hotfix. GeForce Experience does not inform the users there’s a hotfix at all. At least it didn’t notify us.
