Pokemon Go Gen 5 Possible Release Date

Trainers, Niantic and Pokemon Go have teased three Generation 5 Pokemon on their third-anniversary announcement cover photo which confirms that they will be adding Gen 5 to the game anytime soon.

Pokemon Go was released back on July 6, 2016, and since then, the game introduced Pokemon from Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3 and Gen 4. Now, not all Pokemon from Gen 3 and Gen 4 have been released and we’re looking forward to seeing the following Pokemon introduced in the game:

Gen 3

  • Kecleon

Gen 4

  • Mime Jr
  • Rotom, Heat Rotom, Wash Rotom, Frost Rotom, Fan Rotom, Mow Rotom
  • Regigigas
  • Phione, Manaphy
  • Darkrai
  • Arceus
  • Shaymin (Sky), Shaymin (Land)

Niantic and Pokemon Go haven’t shared any info about the release date of Gen 5 Pokemon, but rumors are coming in that we might see the Gen 5 Starters, teased on the 3rd-anniversary cover, Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott (see the image below) as part of this year’s Halloween celebration.

The release date is just a rumor for now, and only Niantic knows when Gen 5 will be joining the game, and like everyone else, we have our own theory too.

If you pay close attention to Gen 2, Gen 3 and Gen 4 timeline, you’ll see that the time between each one is 2 months counting backward (of course, don’t pay attention at the year of release) and if take this into consideration, Gen 5 might be introduced this month, August 2019.

  • Gen 2 release date: February 2017
  • Gen 3 release date: December 2017
  • Gen 4 release date: October 2018
  • Gen 5 possible release in August 2019?

Sounds crazy, right?

Gen 5 would be a cool addition to the game, bringing new original Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon, and new Mythical Pokemon.

When do you expect to see the new Gen 5 Pokemon in the game? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. “2 months counting backward (of course, don’t pay attention at the year of release)” is a very awkward way of saying “10 months”
