Psyonix Officially Joins the Epic Games Family

In a recent announcement, Unreal Engine and Psyonic Games have stated that they’re joining forces to envelop a better gaming experience in Rocket League. The Rocket Football video game probably bound to receiving some big changes, no matter the statement that it won’t. To clarify things up, Epic Games purchased Psyonix, the famous developer of Rocket League.

Fans across the world are already angered by this acquisition, as they’re scared it will vastly impact the game and the community created maps would perish. On the contrary, Psyonix hasn’t stated anything about leaving Steam, but that may turn into being the next move.

Both Unreal Engine and Psyonix have made the announcement on their official Twitter profiles:

Furthermore, the team behind Psyonix have made a big FAQ looking article to lower the questions to the minimum. In their article, Psyonix stated:

We’re happy to say that the answers are only positive. Rocket League always has been and always will be a community-driven game, and now that we have joined forces with Epic, we will be able to serve our community in even bigger and better ways!

Later, Psyonix also confirms of a non-changing gameplay, mechanics and team’s integrity, proving of a firm and stable continuation of Rocket League despite the acquisition.

“Does this mean the gameplay will be different?”

Nope!

Psyonix personally believes that this is a great move for the Rocket League Esports ecosystem, increasing their reach and resources.

We think this is a great move for the Rocket League Esports ecosystem because it significantly increases our potential reach and resources, just like it does for the game itself. We really do believe that you’ll find our future in esports to be very exciting — especially in the near future, where on June 21-23 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) finals will end our 7th season with a bang!

Lastly, Psyonix praises the so-far given support by the community, stating that Rocket League would’ve been nothing close to what it is now without it.

The Acquisition is set to conclude near the end of May to Early June.
