Resident Evil 4: Re-Release, Info And Gameplay

Resident Evil 4, known in Japan as Biohazard 4, is a survival horror third-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom. The sixth major installment in the Resident Evil series, the game was originally released for the GameCube in North America and Japan in January 2005, and in Europe and Australia in March 2005. The story of Resident Evil 4 follows the U.S. government special agent Leon S. Kennedy, who is sent on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the U.S. President’s daughter who has been kidnapped by a sinister cult. Traveling to a rural area of Spain, Leon fights hordes of violent villagers and mutated monsters, and reunites with the mysterious spy Ada Wong. Resident Evil 4 will be re-released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 30th 2016.

Resident Evil over the past:

So I haven’t played Resident Evil 4 since 2006 a couple years after it released.

I was a young teen who didn’t have much to do, so I played it. And played it again and again. I beat professional unlocked the PRL after a grueling frustrating experience. And although it deviated from the formula, it is one of the best third person shooters ever made.

I bought the HD version for pc in 2014, but never bothered to try it out. After rebinding some wonky controls i just gave it a go on normal.

Now this is a game I’ve replayed maybe 10 times from start to end. A game that came out in 2005, yet here I was after the credits rolled thinking to myself, this is the best third person action shooter I’ve played in years.

How is it that a game can get everything so right, the atmosphere, the lore, the cheese b-movie conversations. The best inventory system I’ve seen in a while, that actually made my choices with upgrades and purchases matter?

How could a game that was 10 years old, be so much more competent at level design than most of the third person shooters we see today?

As the credits ended, i came to remember why i loved the series so much and why 4 is actually the only RE i loved in the new action spin off. It’s because it didn’t deviate as much as the rest, because it had a lot of action moments. Because the inventory system isn’t some quick switch BS that’s in real time. It was a proper system where you had to manage the size and what you bought.

Also arguably for me one of the best guns the Red 9 makes it’s appearance.

I would recommend  all of you to give it a shot, even more so to the players who never played it because you didn’t like the action feel of the older RE games.

Where 5 and 6 go a bit crazy with plots and guns, 4 is the perfect symbiosis between old and new, dread and action.

Most apparent of the changes are the use of cropping and pan & scan techniques.

But sensing that graphical changes might upset purists, Capcom has included an option to switch back to the original visuals and 4:3 resolution at any time.

Gameplay tips:

It’s been a while, but here goes.

Avoid any ammo consuming fights.

Use knife in the first chapter as much as possible.

If you get damaged alot, kill yourself so you checkpoint instead of using herbs.

In all bosses, you can one shot them instead of fighting them

For mainly salazar and saddler, in salazar’s case, shoot the eye until he reveals himself, then shoot a rocket launcher on his body.

For saddler, do the same. Except you will get a rocket launcher after you use your first one. Do the same thing, shoot the eye, aim for the plaga thing and shoot it again.
