Sony Confirmed PlayStation 5 is Coming Late 2020

The PS5 is coming next year, late 2020s, along with its rival, the Xbox Project Scarlet. This has been confirmed by PlayStation, officially announcing that the console will be called PlayStation 5.

The name of the next-generation hardware will be ‘PlayStation 5’ and the launch is planned for the late 2020s,” Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan said in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Sony also seems to be planning to change the PS5 controller. One of the key points for Sony, Ryan continued, has been to “remodel” DualShock. He cites two different methods: the first is through improvement in haptic technology to replace the vibration that is in DualShock 4 and the second is the addition of adaptive triggers.

With haptics, things feel different. So hitting a wall in a car race will be much different from hitting a soccer game. You can even get a sense of texture in the grass or in the mud.

Ryan adds that developers will be able to program the resistance of L2 and R2 triggers, in combination with haptic technology that will be deployed on the rest of the controller. Sony believes that this will allow developers to give players more realistic action than before.

Developers can manipulate triggers so that you can get the most out of any activity you’re doing. This will bring a better experience to every action you will take in the game. The creators of games have begun to receive first models of the controller and I can not wait to see where it will lead the imagination.

Ryan finally added that Ghost of Tsushima will be launched for the PS4, despite speculation that it would be a game for the next generation, automatically bringing its launch date to one of the next 15 months.
