Steam Summer Sale is Live, Launches a Permanent Points Shop

Steam Summer Sale is live and not only introduces a bunch of game discounts but also brings a new type of store that will be available permanently. Similar to previous Steam sales and promotions, Valve is known to host an event for the duration of it.

Usually, an event crowned with a new digital currency. Such as points that can be used for acquiring various listings on Steam. An event in which Steam users are allowed to purchase their favorite games for a lower price. This year, unlike before, the novel feature is Points Shop.

A shop that has a vast number of cosmetics acquirable only with points. These points can be earned with each video game purchase on Steam and can be consumed by purchasing cosmetics for games such as CS: GO, Dota 2, and many others. The conversion ratio is 100 points per $1 or 112 points for every €1 spent. That includes DLC, applications, hardware, soundtrack, and even in-game items.

  • Animated Avatars, Frames, Backgrounds, Badges, and Chat items you get are yours to keep forever.
  • The Points Shop is here to stay, now open all year round.
  • Items from the Points Shop are not marketable or tradeable.

Steam’s Points Shop will be permanently available, at least for the first year of its launch. What this means is that the points earned will remain bound to the user account for the duration of the Point shop. All items listed in the Points shop are account-bound. Once purchased, they cannot be traded or marketed. For a complete breakthrough in the new Points Shop, you can visit Steam’s official description.

Throughout the year, other collections are destined to arrive at Steam’s Points shop, which characteristics will speak for its size.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
