Pokémon GO player catches Frigibax, turns out to be Zorua

Well, a well-known Pokémon GO player lived through this exact scenario and decided to share his ‘painful story’ in a three-picture saga that’s equal parts heartbreaking and relatable.

If you’re on the hunt for rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO, Frigibax should be at the top of your list. Right now, you can only find it in the wild, which makes it a highly sought-after catch. But there’s more good news. Starting September 15, 2023, you’ll be able to hatch Frigibax from 10 km Eggs after the Ultra Unlock: Paldea event ends.

Popular Pokémon GO player and content creator FleeceKing recently stirred the pot with a “painful story” he shared on Twitter. Now, what’s so agonizing about this tale? Well, FleeceKing encountered what seemed like a Frigibax in the wild, but after catching it, was greeted by a Zorua instead. Yes, in Pokémon GO, Zorua can take on the appearance of Frigibax as your Buddy Pokémon.

FleeceKing had previously successfully captured a Frigibax just six hours post-event. Fast forward a bit, and he was “fortunate” enough to spot another Frigibax, only for it to morph into Zorua upon capture. Talk about a plot twist.

Introduced in 2022, Zorua is a rather unique Pokémon in Pokémon GO. It appears in the wild, but not in its true form. Much like Ditto, Zorua disguises itself as your Buddy Pokémon. After you catch it, the screen will display “Oh?” instead of the usual “Gotcha!” At this point, the true identity of the sly little creature will be revealed.

Finding a Zorua in Pokémon GO might be a bit challenging, but we have some tips for you. First off, switch your Buddy to a rare, uncommon, or even legendary Pokémon. These Pokémon rarely appear in the wild, making it easier to identify a disguised Zorua when you see one. Frigibax is a very rare and uncommon Pokemon in Pokemon Go.

The same trick applies to using a shadow or shiny Pokémon as your Buddy. Shadow Pokémon are typically only found in select raids or after defeating a Team GO Rocket Grunt. Shiny Pokémon, on the other hand, will only reveal themselves as such on the capture screen. However, if your Buddy is shiny, Zorua will also appear shiny when disguised.
