Pokémon GO resolves Shiny Shadow Zapdos issue, promises compensation for affected players

Trainers, some good news on the horizon: Niantic and Pokémon GO have officially fixed the issue with Shiny Shadow Zapdos not appearing as intended.
When Niantic laid out their plans for the Adventures Abound Season, they gave a nod to both Shadow Zapdos and its Shiny variant being available. They even detailed the schedule for one-star and three-star Shadow Raids daily, as well as five-star Shadow Raids during weekdays and weekends. However, players were left scratching their heads when Shiny Shadow Zapdos was nowhere to be seen. Turns out, it was a case of the shiny form not being activated.
Niantic has since fessed up to the oversight. They’ve flipped the switch, and Shiny Shadow Zapdos is back in the game. What’s more, they’re planning to compensate affected players in the days ahead. We’re eager to find out what this will entail, and fingers crossed it’s not just potions.
Trainers, Shiny Shadow Zapdos could not be encountered earlier this weekend. This issue has been resolved and it is now available. We will be compensating affected trainers in the coming days. We apologize and appreciate your understanding. #PokemonGO
