Marvel’s Wolverine Confirmed to Share Universe with Spider-Man Games

It’s no secret that gamers enjoy the latest installment of Marvel’s Spider-Man series by Insomniac Games. Now, there’s another piece of exciting news. The upcoming game focused on Wolverine will be set in the same universe as the Spider-Man titles.

In a recent interview with the Kinda Funny crew, Brian Intihar, the Creative Director for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, made it clear that both the Wolverine and Spider-Man games will share the same universe. When asked about the setting of both games, Intihar said, “They’re all 1048.” This refers to Earth-1048, the setting in which the current Spider-Man games are located.

Interestingly, the decision was made not to include Wolverine in the newly released Spider-Man game. When asked why, Intihar said, “There was a decision not to do it. I think for us, we wanted to let that team cook.” He added, “And who knows what the future holds? But right now, let’s let them do their thing.”

By placing Wolverine and Spider-Man in the same universe, there’s a lot of potential for crossovers and interactive storylines. Players could find themselves swinging through New York as Spider-Man one moment and battling mutants as Wolverine the next. It opens up many creative avenues for narrative and gameplay, making the whole gaming experience richer.

This confirmation also suggests that Insomniac Games is gradually building a coherent Marvel Gaming Universe. This could pave the way for more in-depth storytelling and open the doors for other Marvel characters to appear in future titles.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
