Niantic drops the Ball, Lures seem Broken during Día de Muertos 2023 in Pokémon GO

Trainers, so we all know that the Día de Muertos 2023 event was supposed to be a big deal in Pokémon GO. Niantic really went all out by extending the Lure Modules’ time to 90 minutes, which initially seemed awesome. Notice the past tense there? Yeah, because they’ve once again dropped the ball.
Día de Muertos, the first event for November 2023, came fully loaded. We’re talking special costume Pokémon, different Pokémon in Raids, new Field Research tasks, and some exclusive event bonuses. One of the major perks was the bump-up in the duration of Lure Modules and Incense from 30 minutes to a whopping 90 minutes. So far, so good, right? Wrong.
What was supposed to be a blessing now feels like a curse. You see, Niantic somehow muddled up the spawn rate. According to player reports, using a Lure now spawns a Pokémon every 4.5 minutes. Let’s put this in perspective: a premium Lure usually gives us a spawn every 1.5 minutes. That’s 20 spawns in total over 30 minutes. Now, even though the Lure lasts for 90 minutes, we still only get 20 spawns. Yep, do the math; it’s not pretty.
Lure modules broken again! Be aware!

Lately, it seems like there’s a pattern forming with Niantic messing up different aspects of the game. They really need to get their act together and pronto. Look, events like Día de Muertos show that Niantic can offer us something fun and unique, but what’s the point if the execution falls flat?
