Former Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs and Dragon Age veterans open a new Game Studio

Yellow Brick Games is a new game development studio founded by creative talents from BioWare and Ubisoft. The game studio is centered in Quebec, Canada, featuring popular names such as Thomas Giroux (Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs), Jeff Skalski (Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed), and Frédéric St-Laurent B. (Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed). They are ready to bring years of experience to a new team.

Perhaps the most notable out of the staff members is Mike Laidlaw, who spent 14 years with BioWare, working as the lead designer and series creative director for Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, and Dragon Age: Inquisition. He also worked on Mass Effect and Jade Empire. After his time at BioWare, Mike joined Ubisoft Quebec, which he left earlier this year.

For veterans of big-studio productions like myself and much of our team, this is the perfect time to get back to a small, agile, and highly motivated group… …We want our games here at Yellow Brick to take potentially millions of players on wonderous journeys, and we want every member of our team to have a direct impact on the new worlds we’re creating.

Yellow Brick Games currently only has 15 employees, so we’re probably going to have to wait some time for their first title. Nevertheless, we’re all wishing Mike and the other staff members a great time at their new workplace!
