Rumor: Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs series reportedly “Dead and Buried”

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs appears to have reached an end, as per recent rumors. The latest chatters who claim to have an insider knowledge have shared details on X. According to the leaker, j0nathan, Watch Dogs: Legion failed to meet the developer expectations, which pushed Ubisoft to cancel several planned projects within the series, including a battle royale spin-off.

Watch Dogs, which debuted in 2014, was a literal masterpiece introducing players to next-level hacking. The game had a unique narrative and mechanics around surveillance and hacking in an open-world setting. Despite its early successful beginings, Legion, its successor, did not see a solid reception, for which has pushed Ubisoft to stray from the series, or at least will…

Ubisoft, however, has not turned its back on reviving older franchises. This year, they released “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown“. They further announced “The Rogue Prince of Persia.” This could pretty much mean that Ubisoft is not giving up on their legacy series, despite the bad feedback.

What’s going to happen with Ubisoft in the future? God knows. All we know is that it’s not looking really good for the developer, as multiple titles have failed to meet player expectations, hence the company’s lower income.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
