PlayStation 5 leads against Xbox Series X/S in Japan with over 118.000 units sold

Informal numbers claim that the PlayStation 5 is way more popular than the Xbox Series X/S in Japan. The next-gen console developed by Sony has sold over 118.000 units in 4 days, while the Xbox Series X has only 21.000 sold in 6 days of release.

This was confirmed by the renowned Japanese video game magazine Famitsu, which further confirms that the best-selling entertainment software for the PlayStation 5 was Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales with 18.640 units sold, followed by Demon’s Souls, the breath-taking remaster with 18.607 units sold.

Famitsu’s overview of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sales is as follows:

PlayStation 5 Japan Sales Report

  • Launch period: November 12, 2020-November 15, 2020
  • Sale period: 4 days
  • Sales: 118,085 units

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S Japan Sales Report

  • Launch period: November 10, 2020-November 15, 2020
  • Sale period: 6 days
  • Sales: 20,534 units

Keep in mind that both consoles face a stock shortage, which prevents users from buying their favorite piece of next-gen gaming hardware. The launch of the next-gen consoles has been turbulent so far, leading to unprecedented events across the globe. Some of them are the PS5 scalpers that have started surfacing on third-party websites trying to resell their console for a huge profit.
