Pokemon Go’s Johto Celebration event begins on January 26, 2021, featuring new event-exclusive Field Research tasks, Collection Challenge tasks, cool rewards, shiny encounters, new Raid Bosses, and more.
There are three different sets of Research tasks available during the event: one is the event-exclusive Field Research tasks featuring Pokemon encounters such as Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chinchou, Mareep, Sudowoodo, and Miltank, Today’s View Research, and the Collection Challenge tasks featuring PokeBalls, UltraBalls and Incense as rewards.
Johto Celebration Event Exclusive Field Research Tasks and Rewards
- Use 2 Berries to help catch Pokemon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile
- Take a snapshot of your Buddy: Chinchou and Mareep
- Catch 5 Grass-type Pokemon: Sudowoodo
- Use 7 Berries to help catch Pokemon: Miltank

- Catch 15 Dark-type Pokemon: x5 GreatBall
- Catch 1 Shadow Pokemon: x5 Revive
- Defeat a Team Go Rocket Leader 3 times: Pokemon encounter
- Rewards: 5,000XP, x15 PokeBall and x1 Incense
