Gerda: A Flame in Winter, Unique WWII Adventure Coming to Nintendo Switch this November

Publisher Meridiem Games has officially announced the European launch of the special boxed Resistance Edition of Gerda: A Flame in Winter for the Nintendo Switch. The release date is set for 23rd November 2023.

Developed by Bird Island and brilliantly published by the renowned DON’T NOD, Gerda: A Flame in Winter offers players a unique perspective on the WWII narrative. The story centers on Gerda, a courageous young nurse embroiled in the war’s chaos, navigating moral dilemmas and dangerous choices as she grapples with her loyalty to her community and her desperate search for her husband, Anders.

Set against the backdrop of February 1945, players step into the shoes of Gerda Larsen, whose personal battles intertwine with the larger-scale atrocities of the war. Every decision made by the player can have profound short-term and long-term repercussions, shaping the narrative and determining the fate of the characters and community involved.

The game is described as an RPG-lite. This means players will have to manage resources like personality points, allegiances, and other tangible items. Relationships with different factions and individuals play a pivotal role in how the story progresses. Players will have the freedom to explore, but must be cautious as events can be time-sensitive and people move around, making every choice critical.

The special Resistance Edition, distributed across European retail stores by Meridiem Games, promises more than just the game. It will come in a specially designed sleeve and will boast collectibles such as two unique art postcards and an exclusive bookmark.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
