Balatro sells over 1 million units in just a month

Balatro, the card game that got my friend hostage for days, has now sold over 1 million copies. In his words, “I got hooked to it“, surely proved to be that this game packs something huge, as he’s not an ordinary player, and it’s hard to see him go off of Dota 2 and WoW.

After one month, Balatro has just hit 1,000,000 units sold in just ONE MONTH across all platforms!

I’m so grateful to all the players and people that have made this happen. I still can’t grasp the response to this game, and I am overjoyed that so many people have been able to have fun with my silly creation. I’m so fortunate that I can continue working on my passion as a career. Thank you!

LocalThunk’s Balatro is an impressive game, a deck-builder with a unique view on Poker. The game is available across multiple platforms including Xbox One and X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. Players are tasked with creating Poker hands, with additional mechanic that allows them to modify their cards.

As players get deep into the game, they traverse through rounds called Antes, which lend them special cards that can improve their hands when facing bosses. While Balatro offers a straightforward gameplay loop, it also amuses its player base, which according to the Steam reviews, is quite positive.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
