GTA 6 Could be Delayed to 2026

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans might have to wait a bit longer, since Rockstar’s goals for an early 2025 release might not be fulfilled. It appears that the development is facing some issues, and Kotaku has revealed what exactly. As per Kotaku’s article, multiple sources have revealed that the game will face a delay.

However, Kotaku has also learned that it’s becoming more and more likely that the sequel might not land until late 2025. It’s also possible that it could even slip into 2026 as production reportedly falls behind.

While security and quality are reportedly the main reasons Rockstar is instituting the mandate to return to the office, I was told by sources—who wish to remain anonymous to avoid possible retaliation—that development on GTA 6 has started “falling behind.” I’m told this has leadership at Rockstar nervous and worried about the game missing the 2025 window and slipping into 2026, and is another big reason the company is pushing for a return to the office in April.

Due to recent security issues, Rockstar Games wanted to get the workers back to work from the office. If these production issues are real, GTA 6’s release could be pushed back further.

Rockstar’s leadership is worried about meeting the 2025 release gap, and GTA 6 could very well be a 2026 release. Even though Rockstar Games hasn’t addressed these rumors publicly, we should expect a bit of turbulence very soon. Until we get more info, stay tight!

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
