Pokemon Sword and Shield Sold More Than Six Million Copies, The Highest-Grossing Pokemon Launch Yet

The latest set in Nintendo’s Pokemon series, Sword & Shield, has graced us with their presence at the Switch over the past weekend. The sales for these games have already been successful. Nintendo, as of today, reported that the company has already sold more than six million units on a global level. Almost two million copies were purchased in the US during the first two days, which makes it the highest-grossing Pokemon launch to date.

The games are actually the first mainline entry into the series on a Nintendo console. All of the previous ones were exclusive to the company’s portable offering. Nintendo did a great job by giving us the ability to play console-quality games on TV and also in portable mode. This is excellent for the games because from now on they can get the famous big-screen experience and they can also take their Switch with them to trade and battle with their friends.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are the eighth best-selling Switch game. As time goes on, it is most likely that Sword & Shield will reach the ranks of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros.
