Bayonetta 1 and 2 Switch Version More Expensive Than Wii U Version in Japan

A strange thing involving Bayonetta 1 and 2’s pricing on Nintendo Switch has been spotted in Japan. Back in 2014 when Bayonetta was released on Wii U, the game came with a free copy of Bayonetta 1. The game could be bought for 7700 yen (USD 70,70)

When 2018 came, we are officially less than a week away from Bayonetta 1 and 2’s launch on Nintendo Switch. The retail version of the game is 5980 yen (USD 54,90) and the price does not include a copy of Bayonetta 1. The only way to get Bayonetta 1 is by downloading the game from the eShop for 3480 yen (USD 32) or you can get it by purchasing the Bayonetta Non-Stop Climax Edition for 9980 yen (USD 91).

If you purchase the Non-Stop Climax Edition at its suggested retail price, it will not be that big of a deal, because this Edition comes together with the steelbook and other goodies. But since it is almost sold out everywhere, many of the fans of the game will not have the chance to buy it at the suggested retail price, which leaves them to buy Bayonetta 2 and 1 separately for USD 86,94. This is 16 dollars higher than the Wii U version of both of the games.

Some Japanese retailers like AmiAmi, are bringing the North American version of Bayonetta 2, which comes together with a digital download for Bayonetta 1. The big question is why is there a big difference in price between the Wii U and the Switch versions.
