Megaton Musashi TGS 2020 Trailer

The creator of Yo-Kai Watch and Professor Layton gave a detailed look for Megaton Musashi, which is their original mecha action game. As presented at Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online, the game will give their players full control over a squad called “Megaton Problem Kids.”

This squad “Megaton Problem Kids” has a “life goal” of reclaiming Earth as their own after the aliens came down here and colonized it. As expected, the visuals of the game resemble anime-like retro giant robot vibes, with looks of a cross between Tetsujin 28 and the Big O.

The storyline of the game is happening in the year 2118, after the aliens descended on planet Earth, destroyed most of its population, and rampaged through the whole planet. Their main “building” is in the center. The ones that survived this attack, gather together in “Shelter” communities. In the Ixia Shelter, the survivors live their everyday ordinary lives, without any memory of the disaster. Everything is going great until five “chosen” kids decide to take matters in their own hands and attack the aliens.

This game is classified as a 3D action game, with combat taking place in 3rd person. The story scenes are in 2D side-scrolling manga-style format, with speech bubbles and whatnot. Players will be able to pilot Rogue units and also customize them.

We do not have a date yet, as Level-5 did not announce it, but they did make sure to confirm that the game was in development for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Megaton Musashi also has a big multimedia push, as they will collab with Weekly Shonen Jump, they have Bandai produce Megaton Musashi themed toys and many other marketing tactics.
