Surviving Mars Reached 5 Million Players, Development Continues

Paradox Interactive has another reason to celebrate, and that is the gathering of 5 million unique players in Surviving Mars. Surviving Mars is a colony builder simulation video game by Abstraction Games and published by Paradox Interactive. The game was released on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PS4, and Xbox One on March 15th, 2018.

A Bulgarian Studio, Haemimont Games, developed the game. The development was stopped and restarted with Abstraction Games in the lead in March 2021, having complete control over the game’s current state. Shortly after the development restart of Surviving Mars with Abstraction Games under the wing, Paradox Interactive promised new Surviving Mars content to arrive.

According to Paradox Interactive interim report for January-March 2021, Surviving Mars not only reached 5 million unique players but also promised further game content to arrive in the future.

This means, for example, that we continue to develop Surviving Mars and could during the first quarter of the year announce that new content is being built by our partner studio Abstraction Games, with several content releases planned for the coming year.

Surviving Mars recently reached five million unique players and we see great opportunities for the game to establish itself as part of our core portfolio. To further increase our focus, we also chose during the quarter to cancel further development of two not-yet-announced games, developed by external studios.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
