With Overwatch 2’s launch, its predecessor, Overwatch, will become a completely obfuscated product and unavailable to play. Yes, Overwatch 2 will replace Overwatch, as per the recent developer statement in a Reddit AMA section hosted by Blizzard.
The developers behind Overwatch 2 recently held an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, where one player asked what the launch of this new game would mean for their original copy. A response was given by Overwatch 2’s Game Director, saying that It’ll effectively replace all current live services for Overwatch.
This means that Overwatch will no longer be available once its supposed successor launches. The release date of Overwatch 2 is designated for October 4. The sequel has stolen all the developer focus for which players became frustrated because Overwatch remained without content for a long time. With that said, they would rather fast forward to October 4 than play Overwatch for the remaining period.
