“Premium” Call of Duty Release Scheduled for 2023

Likely to be a Modern Warfare 2 DLC that will cost a lot.

Based on Activision’s financial report, a new Call of Duty is coming. This time, a bit different than an ordinary release. Just a while ago, we got our hands on the latest Modern Warfare 2. Shortly after its release, exciting news from Activision arrived, revealing plans for a “premium release” of yet another Call of Duty game within 2023. A standalone or MW2-related content remains unknown.

While specific details haven’t been revealed about the game itself, it is known that Sledgehammer Games is behind its creation. It’s pretty evident the Call of Duty series is becoming more popular than ever, and we’re looking forward to it.

“Following a three-year period in which Call of Duty reached well over half a billion players and delivered a step change increase in engagement and player investment, these launches mark the start of a new era intended to take the franchise to new heights.”

“Activision is looking forward to building on its current momentum in 2023, with plans for next year including the most robust Call of Duty live operations to date, the next full premium release in the blockbuster annual series, and even more engaging free-to-play experiences across platforms.”

But what means Premium? Is it another $70 Call of Duty game in this short period? Or, better said, maybe a subscription-based game? While it remains foggy, Jason Schreier shared his disagreements with CharlieIntel on Twitter. The reporter for Bloomberg, who covered the Call of Duty series, said that the next Call of Duty game won’t land until 2024, while the “premium release” will be in the form of DLC for Modern Warfare 2. Sledgehammer Games will develop the content.

Fans demand clarifications as Activision Blizzard has to step out and explain to the fans what this fuss is all about.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
