Pokémon GO players annoyed with the ‘A Route Is Nearby’ notification, can it be turned off?

Alright, Trainers, listen up. Pokémon GO has rolled out a new notification feature that tells you when a Route is nearby. But guess what? Players are less than thrilled about it.
Why, you ask? Well, the “A Route is nearby” notification isn’t exactly low-key. It sticks around on your screen and won’t go away until you click on it. And get this, it comes back every time you restart the game. Talk about clingy! To make matters worse, clicking the notification takes you straight to the routes tab, which also zooms out your map. Annoying? You bet.
Players have taken to The Silph Road Reddit to voice their opinions, and they’re not holding back. We’ll share some of those comments with you below.

Now, you might be thinking, “Can I turn this off?” Sadly, there’s no way to deactivate this new Route notification. That’s right, we’re stuck with it, at least for now.
We’re all for new features that add some spice to the game, but this one needs some tweaks. One idea? Make the notification appear only for routes you haven’t tackled yet. That way, it’s actually useful and not just an irritating pop-up.
So, what do you think about this new feature? Let us know.
It’s a slap in my face every single time I see it. I have been waiting for a month now for a route that goes near my house (I am ~100 meters from the one end) that I created, yet there’s another route in the general neighborhood that is by the other end of my proposed route that is completely different. Very frustrating.
