Niantic forgets to activate Rare Candy and Rare Candy XL bonus in Pokémon GO, Player catches over 100 Costumed Pokémon and gets Zero

Update: Trainers, Niantic and Pokemon GO announced the time when the Rare Candy and Rare Candy XL bonus goes live. It starts at 10 AM local time.

Previous Story: Trainers, we’ve got breaking news from the Pokémon GO community that’s less treat and more trick this Halloween 2023. It looks like Niantic and Pokémon GO have completely overlooked activating the promised Rare Candy and Rare Candy XL bonus for catching costumed Pokémon. This important update comes from a dedicated Pokémon GO player in New Zealand, who already rolled into October 31, 2023, and reported zero bonus items after catching over a hundred costumed Pokémon.

The Halloween 2023 event in Pokémon GO promised players a fantastic opportunity to accumulate Rare Candy and Rare Candy XL. Given the time-zone advantage, players in New Zealand typically serve as early testers for new Pokémon GO events and bonuses. Unfortunately, in this case, they’ve reported a glaring oversight, the complete absence of the highly anticipated Rare Candy and Rare Candy XL rewards.

This is significant news for the Pokémon GO player community globally. Many trainers had strategically planned to grind for these bonuses, especially those who are enthusiastic about stocking up on Rare Candy and Rare Candy XL. For someone who allocated their day to take advantage of this particular event, it’s both disappointing and a waste of precious gaming time.

  1. That’s amazing. Naind**k screws up and everyone laughs and have a good ol time. “No biggie, these things happen (numerous times, every event.” And everything is swept under the rug like nothing happened. But Heaven forbid the targeted fanbase cries for a change, a fix, or any form of redemption or compensation. Oh no, anything like that and your hung on the cross for being “toxic,” “unsportsmanlike,” “bigot,” “uncomforting,” etc. How about my Shadow Lugia. I was glitched/kicked from the game at the physical place and I never got any chance to try to catch my Shadow Lugia.

  2. I took have had issues and am feeling a lot of money wasted. An adventure I buy didn’t let my ticket work and I also work very hard at Pokemon and have been cheated. It never goes the other way for me. Niantic owes me.

  3. They failed to message exactly when the bonus started. Besides that, the bonus was so small I’m surprised they even named it in their infographic. Most people were getting one rare candy per a hundred costume pokemon catches. Even less for candy XL. Or another way to phrase it like 1 item per 2 hours of play. Is that even a bonus? Technically…
