PlayStation’s 2024 State of Play biggest announcements and trailers

PlayStation’s 2024 State of Play has revealed an exciting lineup of trailers and announcements, rivaling Xbox’s Developer Direct from earlier in the month. The event, lasting approximately 40 minutes, showcased a various of titles and updates, and we’re here to list them below for an easier bearing.

One of the most impressive showcases was the continued collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Sony, with an extended trailer for Death Stranding 2 and the reveal of a new project titled PHYSINT. This next-generation action espionage game is expected to be a massive addition to Kojima’s portfolio, though its production is slated to start after the 2025 launch of Death Stranding 2.

During the showcase, there was a sneak peek of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is scheduled to be released in 2025. The preview featured fresh locations, the reappearance of a redesigned villain, and a talking doll that contributed to the game’s eerie atmosphere.

The State of Play presentation highlighted a number of upcoming game releases and remakes. One of the games featured was Until Dawn, a horror game from 2015, which is now being reworked for both PC and PS5, with a release expected sometime this year.

Additionally, Metro Exodus, a popular game, is getting a spinoff for VR called Metro Awakening. It is scheduled to be released on PS VR2 later this year.

Another game showcased was Rise of the Ronin, an RPG developed by Team Ninja, which displayed impressive gameplay and is set to be released on March 22nd for PS5.

Celebrating the 14th anniversary of Sonic Generations, Sega announced a remake featuring Shadow the Hedgehog in the spotlight. Sonic x Shadow Generations, set to launch in Fall 2024, promises a fresh story mode with new levels and bosses.

Last but not least, Helldivers 2 marked its return with a new trailer, setting its launch for February 8th on PS5 and PC.

PlayStation’s 2024 State of Play has been quite surprising tbh. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments below!
