Microsoft will detail its new DirectSR super resolution tech in March

Microsoft will reveal its new DirectSR super resolution next month, which is a huge move in gaming and graphics industry thanks to its AI upscaling technology. Similarly to DLSS, DSR is supposed to be a technology that makes it “easier than ever for game devs to scale super resolution support across Windows devices.

As per The Verge, Microsoft will introduce “DirectSR” during a GDC session on March 21st. It was further stated that an “Auto SR” feature was found in recent Windows 11 builds, promising to use AI to “make support games play more smoothly with enhanced details.

Now let’s talk more about it. DirectSR can potentially change the principles to high-quality gaming on various WIndows devices. With an AI-driven super-resolution, Microsoft is aiming to increase the computational power of modern GPUs to improve game visuals.

With AutoSR found in recent Windows 11 builds, this suggests that Microsoft is possibly trying to enhance games without the user’s or developer’s actions. AI and machine learning continues to grow, and we can expect to see further novelties surrounding the technoloogy.
