Overwatch 2 Season 9 Update Requires 38 GB of Free Space

The upcoming Season 9 of Overwatch 2, titled Champions, will launch on February 13th, bringing a comprehensive overhaul to Competitive Play and numerous adjustments for game balance. This update is termed a rebase patch by the developers, aiming to merge previous updates to prevent the game’s total size from increasing excessively.

Community manager Kaedi has shared on the Blizzard forums that the update will require players to free up to 38 GB of space on their devices for the installation. Players lacking the necessary space are advised to uninstall and reinstall the game once the patch is available.

The Champions season will be accessible across various platforms, including Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. This season introduces modifications to Competitive Play, such as the ability to track rank progression live, reset ranks, and reintroduce placement matches, among other features. Moreover, it brings a new temporary co-op mode titled Cosmic Crisis and a Battle Pass that features a new Mythic Skin for Ancient Caller Moria.

Additional content set to release includes Gauntlet, a Hero Mastery Mode launching on March 12th, where players will defend against bot waves. Furthermore, a mid-season event collaborating with Cowboy Bebop is also hinted at.
