Remedy Acquires Ownership of Control for €17 Million

Remedy Entertainment has acquired full rights to Control from 505 Games. The acquisition went by for a whopping €17 million, securing the rights to Remedy Entertainment for distribution, marketing, and other rights for the Control series.

Through this transaction, we’re positioned to forge more advantageous deals for both existing and new entries in the Control series, they said in the post. Remedy is preparing for the self-publishing future, as Control 2 is still being developed.

Remedy’s CEO, Tero Virtala said: “Regaining full ownership of the Control franchise empowers us to chart the most beneficial course forward.” The CEO has said that the partnership has been good, but the reason behind this purchase is: “long-term strategy to have more ownership over our business and the IPs we have created“.

“This enables further financing and partnership opportunities, which will help us to grow the Control 2 and Condor, “as well as the whole Control franchise into an even greater success than before.”

So now, Remedy says farewell to 505 Games. With this move, the company expects to reach new milestones in 2025. In the meantime, 505 Games will maintain its role as the publisher of Control until December 31, 2024.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
