Nvidia releases new GPU driver 551.86, now available to download

Nvidia has released a new driver update for its GPUs, 551.86. This update provides the best gaming experience for new games that support the DLSS 3 technology, such as Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition. The update also fixes some known issues with Hitman 3, which caused stutters in some Advanced ptimus notebooks.

As for the other changes, the new driver also fixes general bugs and application issues. As always, you can download the driver through GeForce Experience or through the official Download Page. For a more detailed changelog, check below.

  • Adobe Substance 3D Stager: Profile update for new executable [4501935]
  • Using NVENC to encode videos may result in corrupted videos or error message on GeForce GTX 16xx GPUs [4511046]

Fixed General Bugs

  • RTX HDR uses saturation and tone curve that matches Gamma 2.0 instead of 2.2 [4514298]
  • RTX Digital Vibrance incorrectly detects Paint.net app as a supported app [4539617]
  • [Acer XZ272] When parsing the invalid EDID of the monitor, the PC will bugcheck/go into system reboot [4487078] (Not in Release Notes. Taken from GeForce Forum)

Open Issues

  • [Netflix] Display issues for videos when using Edge browser. Recommend using Windows Netflix application as workaround. [4388454]
  • GeForce GTX 10/RTX 20 series: PC may randomly freeze when Windows Hardware- Accelerated GPU Scheduling and NVIDIA SLI are both enabled [4009884]
