Fortnite: Battle Royale Made Over $1 Billion from In-Game Purchases

It was revealed by Beancounters at SuperData that Fortnite has officially reached the $1 billion milestone, all from in-app purchases.

Fortnite’s viewership is quite hard to reach. In May 2018, they had 574 million viewing hours. From SuperData’s chart of viewers, we can clearly see that its competitor, League of Legends, is not even close to this number.

When it comes to genre, it was pointed out by SuperData that the games similar to DayZ, H1Z1 and PUBG probably started all of this battle royale craze. The genre became famous, mostly through Fortnite. Which is quite interesting, the viewing numbers have not affected other genres in a negative way.

It is predicted that in 2018, the games that have a battle royale game, will earn 12% of all digital games.

In these predictions, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode is taken into account, which will be beneficial for Activision Blizzard.
