Update 2: Galarian Weezing will make its debut on November 16 from 2-3 PM local time as a T4 Raid Boss. After this Raid Hour, Galarian Weezing will occasionally appear in Raids. In addition,
Galarian Weezing can be shiny. Galarian Weezing can’t be shiny (this was a mistake on our side and thanks to the comment below, we made an update).
Update 1: Unfortunately, there is no announcement about Galarian Pokemon coming to Pokemon Go yet, but they are definitely added to the GM file, and they will be introduced very soon. From what it looks like, Niantic is probably going to announce the Galarian Pokemon after the Chimchar Community Day event.
Trainers, the assets for Galarian Weezing, Zigzagoon and Linoone and Pokemon Sword and Shield costume items have been pushed and updated in the Pokemon Go’s GM file. This means the new Galarian Pokemon are definitely on their way, and we expect to see their debut in Pokemon Go today.
The three Galarian Pokemon were discovered in the GM file in the v0.159.0 update, including the search filter for “Galarian” Pokemon and today they updated the assets for these Pokemon and here is how they look:
The Galarian forms will be introduced in Pokemon Go to celebrate the launch of Pokemon Sword and Shield on Nintendo Switch.
What are the Galarian Pokemon?
In the Galar region, a species’ regional form is referred to as its Galarian form (Japanese: ガラルのすがた Galar form). A Pokémon in its Galarian form is described as Galarian — for example, Weezing in its Galarian form is referred to as Galarian Weezing. Unlike in Alola, Pokémon from beyond Generation I have known Galarian forms, and there is at least one known case of an evolution exclusive to a Galarian form Pokémon, Obstagoon.
We’re ready for the new Galarian Pokemon Niantic! Bring it on!
