Atlus says Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Scramble and 13 Sentinels Exceeded Sales Expectations

The esteemed Japanese video game company Atlus has published its financial statement for the company’s seventh fiscal term under Sega ownership, which ended on March 31, 2020.

Atlus has stated that Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, Persona 5 Royal, and 3 Sentinels: Aegis Rim have all exceeded their expectations for their sale numbers. Following that good news, it also stated that the company has exceeded its sales in its marketed regions: Asia, Europe, and America. Also, Sega had previously reported in a fiscal year shareholder Q&A session that Persona 5 Royal had reached record sales in Europe and in the U.S.

The next reports state that Atlus during the fiscal year ended in March 2017 had a net loss of 570 million yen (approximately being $5.3 million USD), during the FY ended in March 2018 had a net loss of 686 million yen, during the FY ended in March 2019 had a net loss of 904 million yen and during the FY ended in March 2020 had a net loss of 423.8 million yen.

In summary overall, Atlus exceeded their target numbers for FY ended March 31, 2020, and contributed to Sega’s profits as a result.

The previous year Atlus had mentioned the expansion of the PC games market through platforms like Steam. The company mentions that they are expecting an increase in digital downloads overseas and new business models to profit on this trend. The reason for this might be their endeavors with the newly released Persona 4 Golden on Steam, which has been declared a success by the company.
