Trainers, a new limited-time special research is going live in September 2020 and players have to complete the given tasks to earn cool rewards, Pokemon encounters, and shiny forms.
The Mega Buddy Challenge is a four-stage limited-time special research that players have to complete in order to unlock an extra treat during the Halloween event 2020.

- Give your Buddy 3 treats: Houndour
- Rewards: x35 Beedrill Mega Energy, x500 Stardust and 1,000 XP

- Catch 10 Pokemon: x3 Pinap Berry
- Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokemon: x3 PokeBall
- Earn a Candy walking with your Buddy: Buneary
- Rewards: x40 Beedrill Mega Energy, x1,000 Stardust and 2,000 XP

- Catch 9 different species of Pokemon: x3 Golden Razz Berry
- Mega Evolve a Pokemon: x3 Great Ball
- Earn 7 Heart with your Buddy: Haunter
