Discord is down! The popular app that lets you chat with friends and others in games is experiencing an outage at this moment. Some can’t join calls or participate in text chats, others can’t even launch the application, which means everyone’s favorite way of communicating might be inaccessible for some time.. According to the official Discord Twitter Profile, Discord is experiencing a widespread API outage.

Update 1: The current message on Discord indicates that it’s slowly coming back up.
Update 2: Some of us were able to connect.
Update 3: More than half of the users were able to connect to Discord and it’s working normally.

API OUTAGE

The database is healthy again and our internal error rate has fallen to nominal levels. We are beginning to raise the login rate to limit to allow users to reconnect.

Update – We are continuing to work through some issues with one of our database clusters. We are still rate limiting login traffic. Next update in 15 minutes.

Update – We have instituted a rate limit on logins to manage the traffic load. Users who are logged in are successfully using Discord at this point, and we will be slowly raising the limits here to allow more users in as we can. We expect this to be resolved in the next 15 minutes.

Identified – We have identified the underlying issue with the API outage but are dealing with a secondary issue on one of our database clusters. We have our entire on-call response team online and responding to the issue.
