CoD May Be Heading to Gamepass, Xbox Players Receive a Surprising Message

The CoD franchise might be coming to the Xbox Game Pass library. A surprising post on X from the user @gamepasstracker, suggests that Call of Duty (CoD) games could soon be making their grand entrance to Microsoft’s popular gaming subscription service.

The post in question highlights a peculiar occurrence when trying to purchase Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Instead of the standard transaction process, Xbox users are met with a message that reads, “Receive this item for FREE with your gaming subscription! (Game Pass) Checkout, and it’s yours FOREVER!” Such a message is usually reserved for titles in the Game Pass subscription.

Including Call of Duty games would be a significant coup for Game Pass. Known for its vast player base and annual blockbuster releases, the Call of Duty franchise has forever been among the top in the industry. Should Activision decide to introduce the series into the Game Pass fold, it would undoubtedly create an influx of subscribers while potentially expanding the franchise’s fanbase further.

This development doesn’t come out of the blue. It aligns with Microsoft’s anticipated acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which is expected to be finalized by October 18th. This merger would see two giants combine forces, and adding Call of Duty titles to Game Pass could be one of the first significant post-acquisition announcements.
