A new company called Shapeshifter Games which was put together by some Volition ex-developers who are famous for Red Faction and Saints Row, are making a new Xbox game exclusively for Xbox Series consoles and PC.
Shapeshifter Games is an organization founded by experienced Volition members whose goal is to collaborate with leading developers and publishers to make AAA games. Job ads from the studio suggest they’re actively working on an Unreal Engine 5-based project at Xbox Game Studios.
These job listings, among other things, reveal some of the gameplay aspects like traversal, combat systems, missions, and storytelling, as well as an inventory system and crafting mechanics early on in development for this Xbox game.
AJ Nelson updated his LinkedIn profile announcing that Shapeshifter had taken part in co-developing an Xbox Game Studios project.

Currently, Shapeshifter Games effectively functions as a service provider, something that is quite common in the industry. As they have been involved in impressive open-world projects previously and have been using Unreal Engine throughout their work it can be assumed that they could be contributing to the next Gears of War or working on a whole different project.
