The Day Before servers are officially dead

The game “The Day Before,” developed by Fntastic, has officially ended. The title, which faced a rocky journey since its announcement in 2021, ceased operations on January 22nd. Despite the anticipation surrounding this survival MMO set in a post-pandemic environment, the game encountered numerous hurdles, including postponements and a transition to Unreal Engine 5. Doubts grew as the release neared, exacerbated by a lack of gameplay previews.

When the game was finally presented in January 2023, it was amidst news of a delay to November due to a trademark issue. The launch eventually happened in December as an early access on PC, but it was met with critical disapproval. Reviews were largely unfavorable, leading to its removal from sales platforms. The publisher, MyTona, collaborated with Steam to facilitate full refunds for disappointed players.

Despite the dedication of a few players (with reports of someone consistently logging in since December 28th, according to SteamDB data), the game couldn’t salvage its reputation. Fntastic announced the game’s closure, citing financial failure and insufficient resources to support further development. Our review mirrored the sentiment of the broader gaming community, awarding the game a dismal 1 out of 10 due to various shortcomings in gameplay, design, and the overall gaming experience.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
