Pokemon Go Gifts Got Nerfed, Here are All the Changes

Last week Niantic released three new features for Pokemon Go, available for Trainers who are Lvl 10 or higher.

One of the new features is the Gifts that PokeStops occasionally give. These Gifts have a “postcard” from the PokeStop where you picked up the gift, and a rare item. It’s confirmed that these Gifts include rarer items within the normal PokeStop gift pool. Also, when receiving a gift, the player will have a chance to receive a 7KM egg, which will hatch to reveal an Alolan Pokemon.

For the little effort that it takes to find and send Gifts, these rewards were actually pretty high value, but that has changed today.

As reported by the Pokemon Go community the Gifts got nerfed, and here are the changes:

  • Regular Ball – 5 > 3;
  • Great Ball – 5 > 2;
  • Ultra Ball – 5 > 1;
  • Regular Potion – 2 > 1;
  • Super Potion – 2 > 1;
  • Hyper Potion – 2 > 1;
  • Max Potion – 2 > 1;
  • Revive – 2 > 1;
  • Max Revive – 2 > 1;
  • Pinap Berry – 10 > 2.

It looks like Niantic want to make items more accessible to everyone without breaking the design incentives of needing to walk through and spin PokeStops.

It was fun while it lasted, and now we have to ‘work’ harder to get the same amount of items as before. Good luck and let us know what do you think about these changes.

For last, a new set of Field Research tasks and rewards are coming in July, and here you can find more.

  1. I feel like they did it on purpose to push people into buying more bag space. Then nerfed it after they’d made a bunch of money.
